Jan 11, 2012 (newstodate): Starting from the end of March 2012, Ryanair is to increase its operations at Sweden's Malmo Airport with new destinations and re-opening of former routes.
Starting from March 27, 2012, Ryanair will launch flights from Malmo Sturup Airport to Barcelona, followed by the opening of flights to Malta from May 4, 2012.
Ryanair plans to operate from the airport, close to Denmark's capital area, to Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Malta, Pisa and Wroclaw in the coming summer schedule.
On June 30, 2011, Ryanair launched two weekly services on the route to Alicante with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, flights to Madrid were added from July 3, 2011, and flights to London were introduced from November 2, 2011, providing the first direct connection between these two destination.
Ryanair's Malmo flights are also targeting the nearby Danish market, where Ryanair has opted out from setting up routes at Copenhagen Airport due to high operational costs.
