Jan 05, 2012 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier Carpatair is setting up a new operational base in Moldova.
Effective from March 26, 2012, the carrier will launch flights on three new routes to Italy: Venice, Rome Fiumicino, and Milan Bergamo, offering direct flights in stead of the services via its home base at Timisoara as of now.
The new direct flights from Chisinau will be operated in partnership with Moldavian Airlines, and Carpatair is also in talks with Alitalia for a code-share on all three routes.
Since July 14, 2003, Carpatair and Moldavian Airlines have been cooperating on providing frequent flight connections between Chisinau, Moldavia, and Timisoara, Romania.
Carpatair's fleet comprises three Fokker 70, eight SAAB 2000 and three Fokker 100 that have been advertized for sale for quite some time already.
