Jan 24, 2012 (newstodate): The Romanian carrier Carpatair has further grown its fleet of SAAB 2000 aircraft.
The carrier has leased one SAAB 2000 aircraft from Alitalia, and will deploy the aircraft to its newly opened route between Salerno and Milan, in Italy.
The route was left void of flight services with the demise of the Austrian carrier Air Alps.
Starting from March 26, 2012, Carpatair is also launching services to Italian destinations including Venice, Rome and Milan from its new base in Chisinau, Moldova.
With currently nine SAAB 200 aircraft in its fleet, Carpatair is the world's largest operator of this aircraft type.
Carpatair also operates three Fokker 70 plus three Fokker 100 that have long been put up for sale.
