Jan 02, 2011 (newstodate): The new carrier Slovakian Airlines will continue its current ACMI operations for Armavia till spring 2012.
Originally announcing intentions to launch its first scheduled flights out of Bratislava, Slovakia, already from the end of December 2011, plans are now to delay this till the start of the summer schedule 2012.
The Boeing 737-500 aircraft leased from Armavia will thus continue on a wet-lease contract with Armavia, operating flights from Yerevan to destinations including Dubai and St Petersburg.
The airline, based at Bratislava Milan Rastislav Stefanik Airport and set up by Slovak entrepreneur Arnold Medzihradsky and Mikhail Bagdasarov who is also the owner of the Armenian carrier Armavia, received its AOC in October 2011.
