Jan 05, 2012 (newstodate): Passenger volumes at Lithuania's Palanga International Airport reached new levels in 2011.
A total of 111,133 passenger were handled at Palanga, an increase by 8.4 percent, y-o-y, and this was the highest volume ever at the airport by Lithuania's Baltic Sea coast.
The growth was driven by SAS' twice-daily flights between Copenhagen and Palanga, now upgraded from CRJ200 to CRJ900 aircraft, and the introduction from October 31, 2011, of flights three times weekly by SAS between Oslo and Palanga with Boeing 737-600 aircraft.
Also serving the route between Palanga and Oslo since February 2008 is Norwegian offering two weekly rotations.
During the summer season, the Russian carrier RusLine started seasonal flights between Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Palanga from June 26, 2011, using Bombardier CRJ100 or 200 aircraft on the route.
