Jan 03, 2012 (newstodate): The Italian debts crisis has hit the country's airline industry.
As a direct result of the collapse of the Italian bank system, the cargo carrier Cargoitalia has been grounded, leaving its fleet of three MD-11F aircraft on the tarmac at Frankfurt and Singapore.
The carrier was set up in 2005 as the first cargo airline to operate from Italy with private Italian capital, operating routes from Milan to destinations in China via Almaty in Kazakhstan, the USA and the Gulf region.
Cargoitalia also holds orders for delivery of five new Airbus A330-200F aircraft
