Jan 03, 2012 (newstodate): Despite the current uncertainty around Jade Cargo, the Lithuanian logistics provider Hoptrans remains confident that its ex-China shipments will still find their way into its distribution system.
-We have now also been notified that Jade Cargo will at least not fly before January 16, 2012, but as the market is seasonally slow this time of the year it does not have any significant impact on us now, says Dalia Ciutaite, Hoptrans managing director.
-As a temporary solution we fly shipments from China into Frankfurt on a range of carriers, including Lufthansa Cargo, and truck them to Kaunas for feeding into our distribution service comprising Russia, Belarus and several Central European markets.
-I am quite confident that we will secure again a direct freighter service from Shanghai to Kaunas, be it with Jade Cargo or another carrier capable of providing the services we need, says Ms Ciutaite.
Since April 2, 2011, Jade Cargo has been online at Lithuania's Kaunas Airport with a weekly flight from Shanghai for Hoptrans and Agility in Lithuania, and since June 18, 2011, Lufthansa Cargo Lufthansa Cargo has taken over the flight from Kaunas Airport to Frankfurt, extending to Bombay, India.
