Jan 30, 2012 (newstodate): Only three IATA carriers managed to found off 2011 with positive growth figures in the Swedish market for IATA export airfreight.
The three exceptions to the otherwise gloomy picture were Finnair Cargo, up 9.9 percent, y-o-y, to 863 tonnes, Thai Airways that saw its volumes up by 2.3 percent, y-o-y, to 522 tonnes, and British Airways that grew its export volumes by 36 percent to 426 tonnes.
In December, Finnair Cargo thus held 10.6 percent of the market, while the two other two carriers held only 6.4 and 5.2 percent of the market, respectively.
SAS Cargo Retained its position at the lead of the top-10 list with 1,124 tonnes, corresponding to 13.8 percent of the market while declining 30.5 percent in volumes in December 2011.
In total, the Swedish IATA export airfreight market shrank by 23.7 percent, y-o-y, in December 2011, to 4,141 tonnes which was the steepest decline in cargo in the Nordic IATA markets.
