Jan 11, 2012 (newstodate): The Armenian carrier Armavia is to take delivery of its second Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft in the first quarter of 2012.
The aircraft was earlier planned for delivery in November 2011, but Superjet International's Press Officer Sabrina Marcato says the transaction was delayed "according to the formal request of the customer".
Behind this may be financial issues on the part of Armavia that has covered its immediate needs for aircraft capacity by leasing a Boeing 737-300 on ACMI basis from its sister airline Slovakian Airlines that counts Mikhail Bagdasarov, owner of the Armenian carrier Armavia, as one of its owners, too.
Deferring delivery of the second Superjet 100 to Armavia enabled Sukhoi to deliver fourth Superjet 100 aircraft to Aeroflot, instead.
