Sep 14, 2011 (newstodate): Growth in transfer volumes secured growth in cargo volumes at Copenhagen Airport during the first quarter, 2011.
The airport has belatedly released its first cargo statistics in 2011, showing a 6.4 percent growth in total cargo and mail volumes, to 77,870 tonnes in January-March.
Driving the growth was transfer cargo, up 10.9 percent to 55,089 tonnes, corresponding to 70.7 percent of the total volumes in the period against 67.9 percent in Q1, 2010.
During January-March 2011, import volumes dropped 1.4 percent, y-o-y, to 9,769 tonnes, while export volumes were down 4.2 percent to 13,012 tonnes.
In the latest month so far accounted for, March 2011, the airport handled a total of 28,155 tonnes, up 10.4 percent y-o-y, again driven by transfer cargo that grew 16.1 percent to 19,830 tonnes, while imports were up 3.4 percent to 3,590 tonnes, and exports dropped 4.4 percent, to 4,735 tonnes.
Included in the statistics from Copenhagen Airport are both mail and cargo flown and trucked.
