Sep 19, 2011 (newstodate): While Serbia's national carrier JAT seems to attract little attention to its ongoing tender for privatization, another Balkan airline seems to be in a better position.
So far, the tender for JAT has reportedly not succeeded in winning a single potential buyer into buying the tender documents, while some reports say that Latvia's airBaltic has "shown interest".
It seems rather improbable, however, that airBaltic should have any resources left to engage in a new business venture at a time when its own fate is at stake amidst financial problems and political unrest.
On the other hand, several interested parties should be looking towards another Balkan carrier, Montenegro Airlines that is due to open a tender for privatization.
Reports are that the Turkish carrier Turkish Airlines is casting its eyes on Montenegro Airlines, but other interested parties are reportedly on the horizon as well.
