Sep 19, 2011 (newstodate): The Swedish ACMI-provider and charter carrier Tor Air is considering a change-over from Boeing to Airbus aircraft.
-We have been considering adding a Boeing 737-800 aircraft to our current Boeing 737-400 operations, but the price tag for a Boeing 737-800 remains too high to make a sensible deal, says Torbjorn Winsell, Tor Air CEO.
-As the lease period for the Boeing 737-400 is due to expire by November 2011, we are instead focusing on changing to an Airbus A320 fleet as these aircraft are more easily available in the market.
-Plans are now to conclude a lease agreement for one Airbus A320 this autumn, adding a second aircraft in time for next year's summer traffic.
-This summer has been excellent for Tor Air, but the coming winter season will as usual be a challenge. We have a number for ad-hoc contracts in the leisure market, and we will also operate flights to Iraq as well as the Middle East from our base in Sweden, says Mr Winsell.
