Sep 06, 2011 (newstodate): With a few fluctuations in 2011 but still on the positive side, Lithuania's Vilnius Airport continues its steady growth in cargo volumes.
A total of 459 tonnes was handled at the airport in August 2011, an increase by 11 percent, y-o-y.
Included in the totals were 109 tonnes of mail, down 2.7 percent, y-o-y, and 350 tonnes of cargo that increased by 16.5 percent, y-o-y.
For the first eight months of 2011, the airport handled 3,817 tonnes of cargo and mail, up 15.2 percent, y-o-y.
Mail volumes were 1014 tonnes, down one percent, while cargo volumes increased by 22.5 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 2,289 tonnes.
The airport has seen positive growth in combined mail and cargo volumes all through 2011 - so far.
