Sep 27, 2011 (newstodate): Aeroflot is to further the consolidation process in Russia's aviation business by integrating its affiliated airlines more closely.
Effective from October 1, 20111, all flight operations by Donavia will thus be integrated with Aeroflot to constitute a single route network while Donavia's own designation will disappear and change into "SU".
Technically, Donavia will retain its own AOC and remain independent - but now integrated within Aeroflot.
Soon to follow in the integration process are Russian carriers Rossiya and Vladivostok Air, transferred to Aeroflot from the state corporation Rostehnologii that took possession of them the collapse of the earlier AiRUnion airline alliance.
All remaining airlines affiliated to Aeroflot will be integrated in the course of 2012.
The process is driven by the need to clear the market of an excessive number of smaller carriers that lack the means and potentials to ensure a reliable air safety management.
