Sep 26, 2011 (newstodate): The opening of the Winter Olympics at Russia's Sochi in 2014 may prompt the earlier delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for Aeroflot.
In 2007, Aeroflot placed orders for delivery of a total of 22 Boeing 878 aircraft, with deliveries to start from 2014.
Sustained and repeated production problems, however, forced Boeing to change delivery plans at several occasions, and according to the latest revision, Aeroflot is to take delivery of the first Boeing 787 only in 2016.
Now, Aeroflot and Boeing are working on plans to secure delivery of two Dreamliner aircraft by the end of 2013, in time for flights to and from the winter OL.
The plans are probably benefiting for several airlines' cancellation of Dreamliner orders or wishes for delays of deliveries in times of soft market trends.
