Sep 15, 2011 (newstodate): At a much-heralded press conference on September 14, 2011, SAS presented its new strategy, 4Excellence.
The goal is to achieve excellence by 2015 within four cornerstones: Commercial Excellence, Sales Excellence, Operational Excellence, and People Excellence.
SAS is also to maintain its position as the first-hand choice for business travelers, but will expand its offerings to strengthen its market share within the leisure travel segment.
With the 4Excellence strategy, SAS purports to show continued leadership within the Nordic aviation industry.
Lower unit costs, introduction of Lean techniques - and free coffee on all classes are some of the tools to be implemented.
Not surprisingly, SAS' shares dropped after the announcement that showed little innovation beyond what any competing airline would ascribe to.
