Sep 12, 2011 (newstodate): After seeing success with its route connecting the Scandinavian markets with Seattle on the US west coast, Icelandair is to go up to daily flights from next summer.
Effective from May 22, 2012, Icelandair will fly daily on the route using Boeing 757-200 aircraft, increasing from the current six weekly rotations that connects to flights between Iceland and airports in Scandinavia.
In 2009, SAS closed down its flights between Seattle and Copenhagen, Denmark, after 40 years of unbroken services, leaving a void soon filled by Icelandair that started out with four weekly rotations.
Besides serving important industrial customers with traffic between Seattle and Scandinavia, the route is also supported by large Scandinavian ethnic communities living on the US west coast.
