Sep 07, 2011 (newstodate): At Lithuania's Kaunas Airport, cargo volumes are trailing slightly behind 2010 during the first eight months of this year.
A total of 2,539 tonnes was handled at the airport during January-August 2011, down 6.3 percent, y-o-y.
In four out of the seven months, the airport has seen a negative growth reflecting variations in the crucial handling of ex-China imports for European distribution by Hoptrans and Agility.
July 2011 did however see growth by 25 percent, y-o-y, to 297 tonnes.
From August 27, 2011, the incoming Boeing 747-400F freighter from Jade Cargo Airlines has been contracted by Lufthansa Cargo to lift Baltic and Finnish cargo exports to Frankfurt and onward to Mumbai, India, which will probably reflect in statistics from September 2011.
