Sep 14, 2011 (newstodate): It seems that Latvia's national carrier airBaltic is stuck to the brim with own financial problems and state interference, but anyhow it has reportedly "shown interest" in the Serb carrier JAT.
One Serb media claims that while airBaltic has not actually acquired the JAT tender documents, it has indicated "interest", and the same media also says that there is probably another party hiding behind airBaltic that is actually driving this alleged process.
It is anyone's guess, but if there is any truth in this the "party behind airBaltic" might be Mansvell's Ukrainean owner, Igor Kolomoyski, who has already taken control of the Danish carrier Cimber Sterling as well as Swedish Skyways as part of his plan to set up a new European carrier.
At least, Mansvell has earlier been reported to be in dialogue with airBaltic that needs a strong capital injection to overcome its current troubles and regain its breath for continued development.
