Sep 08, 2011 (newstodate): Without much fanfare, Kazakhstan's Almaty Airport found a new owner earlier in 2011.
In April 2011, 78 percent of the shares in Almaty Airport were acquired from its former owner, a Kazakh group Meridien Capital, by the Dutch investment company Venus Airport Investment, and a new airport management was consequently installed.
So far little is known of the new owner, and no details are so far available on the plans for developing the airport that plays the major role in the country's aviation, both as to passenger and cargo traffic.
