Sep 08, 2011 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport will see the Hungarian LCC WIZZ Air growing its presence from May 27, 2012.
The carrier has aired plans to base one more Airbus A320 aircraft at the airport and launch new services from Vilnius to Oslo, Bergen,Liverpool, and Paris from May 2012.
Starting from April 17, 2010, WIZZ Air has based one A320 aircraft at Vilnius Airport and is now offering 20 weekly rotations between Vilnius and Cork, London, Doncaster-Sheffield, Eindhoven, Barcelona, Rome, Milan and Stockholm, with plans to increase frequencies on flights to London and Eindhoven also from May 2012.
The carrier's traffic is boosting passenger volumes at Vilnius Airport that generated a total of 562.100 passengers this summer, up 26.3 percent, y-o-y and hitting the half-million mark one month earlier in 2011, compared to last year.
