Sep 08, 2011 (newstodate): Flybe Nordic might be an attractive airline handling customer for North Hub Services in Estonia - but no offer was made.
-We did not bid for Flybe Nordic, as Tallinn Airport is extremely protective on its monopoly status, says Janis Balkens North Hub SErvices CEO.
-Instead we keep sitting on the fence, waiting for the airport to reach two million passengers, which I am quite sure will happen next year, in 2012, he says.
And signs are that this will hold true.
In august 2011, a total of 192,868 passengers passed through Tallinn Airport - 40 percent more than in August last year.
The average growth in passenger volumes since the beginning of 2011 now stands at 38 percent, and the growth is expected to continue through September as well.
In January-August 2011, the airport generated a total of 1,251,954 passengers.
North Hub Services has been active on Tallinn Airport since November 1, 2010, contracted by airBaltic to provide it with self-handling.
