Sep 07, 2011 (newstodate): The third handling provider at Copenhagen Airport, Copenhagen Flight Services has come off to a good start.
Since June 1, 2011, the company has been providing handling services to its first, and so far only, customer, the LCC easyJet.
-We have experienced a surprisingly smooth start of operations with easyJet that is the only carrier handled at the airport's dedicated low-cost facility, CPH Go, says Torben Andersen, Copenhagen Flight Services managing director.
-CPH Go is a new facility and there have been some snags that have been easily corrected. But otherwise everything has gone according to plans, our on-time performance has been excellent, and bonuses have consequently been forthcoming from our customer.
-We are certainly on the look-out for more airline customers at Copenhagen Airport - but the summer season is hardly the period where airlines are most prone to decide on changes in handling. So we are rather looking forward to intensifying our marketing efforts from this autumn, and hopefully we will manage to expand our customer portfolio, says Mr Andersen.
Besides providing handling services, Copenhagen Flight Services is also for years a major provider of aircraft de-icing which requires the intake of extra manpower during the season, soon to start.
But due to synergies with the new handling business, Copenhagen Flight Services will only need to contract some 8-10 extra external staff this winter, adding to the about 55 employees now with the company.
Copenhagen Flight Services is owned by the Swedish Nordic Aero Group that is on its side part of the Aviator Airport Alliance, set up in November 2010 together with Roeros Flyservice and Norport Handling.
Copenhagen Flights Services has, however, remained a fully neutral handling provider not limited in its efforts to generate an own portfolio of customers.
