Sep 29,2011 (newstodate): Finnair has announced further steps towards cutting costs and streamlining its business.
The latest move concerns streamlining the airline's support and management functions to improve Finnair's profitability and are part of Finnair's efforts to boost the efficiency of its marketing and distribution activities.
These plans are part of the goal to reduce annual costs by 140 million euro by 2014.
Finnair has already earlier announced that it has started negotiations to transfer baggage and apron services to Swissport, and that it is negotiating aircraft leasing agreements that are about to expire to bring them more in line with the current status of the leasing market
Finnair is also evaluating the optimum size of its fleet in European air traffic, and has begun analyses of different alternatives to improve cost-efficiency of maintenance services.
