Sep 02, 2011 (newstodate): Results from the Danish forwarder and logistics provider DSV's new department, DSV Air Charter are convincing.
Since August 1, 2010, when Ole Christiansen took up his position as DSV General manager Air Charter, the aim of the unit is to consolidate and coordinate all efforts among DSV's total of 21,300 staff at offices in 60 countries around the world when it comes to aircraft brokering and ad-hoc projects requiring cargo charters.
In 2010 the total volume of airfreight managed by DSV accrued to 250,000 tonnes, with 25,350 generated by the new department on no less than 780 chartered aircraft.
During the first half of 2011, the department has chartered 295 aircraft, including 195 IL-76 operations, 60 Boeing 747 freighter operations, and 14 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 passenger aircraft operations.
