Sep 23, 2011 (newstodate): The Bulgarian government is keen to develop the country's airports infrastructure.
The focus is right now on transforming the former AFB at Balchik into a new commercial airport, to be opened from May 1, 2011, already.
The airport will provide a third entry point to tourist resorts at Bulgaria's Black Sea cost, as well as becoming also an alternate airport to support the north-eastern parts of the country.
The Bulgarian state has already revived other former AFBs, now named Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport and Straklevo Airport.
But the process is not ending here: plans are also to consider reopening of other defunct airports including Targovishte and Vidin.
