Sep 27, 2011 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo retained its strong position in the Nordic IATA export airfreight markets through August 2011.
The company aggregated a total of 2,195 tonnes sold in the Nordic markets in August 2011, but still saw its volumes down, compared to August 2010, due to the general decline in three out of four Nordic markets.
The exception was, as before, Norway where volumes were still rising. Which did not benefit Lufthansa Cargo, though, as this carrier is not involved in this country's dominating single-commodity logistics in the form of fresh salmon exports.
So on the Top-10 IATA carrier list as to export air cargo Lufthansa Cargo was ranked #2 in Sweden with 802 tonnes, #3 in Denmark with 532 tonnes, and #2 in Finland with 359 tonnes, while still ranked as #6 in Norway with 501 tonnes.
