Aug 05, 2011 (newstodate): Estonia's Tallinn Airport is continuing the steep curve of increase in cargo volumes since March 2011.
After decreases by 58.6 and 55.8 percent, y-o-y, in cargo volumes handled in January and February 2011, growth return in March with 80.6 percent increase, followed by growth by 164.6, 190.1, 139.5 percent in the following months.
July 2011 proved no exception; cargo volumes were again up by 212.9 percent, y-o-y, to a total of 1,448 tonnes, bringing this year's total volumes during the first seven months to 8,700 tonnes, an increase by 26.5 percent, y-o-y.
7,140 tonnes of this seven-month total volume is airfreight imports that have grown by 31.5 percent, y-o-y., signaling the return of ex-China airfreight via the airport for onward trucking into Russia.
Behind this traffic is the Turkish carrier and logistics company ULS that operates Airbus A300 freighter flights and handles the cargo volumes at an own large cargo terminal at Tallinn Airport.
