Aug 22, 2011 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is not strong in airfreight - but anyhow, volumes are growing.
In July, a total of 467 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport - an increase by 7.2 percent, y-o-y.
That brought the year's total to 3,358 tonnes, up 15.8 percent, y-o-y.
The growth in July was driven by rising cargo volumes, up 12.3 percent, while cargo alone has risen 23.3 percent, y-o-y, during January-July 2011.
In 2011, the single largest cargo carrier lifting 1,008 tonnes is Aviavilsa operating for DHL, while Latvia's airBaltic comes second with a total of 584 tonnes and Lufthansa ranks third with 400 tonnes through Vilnius Airport.
