Aug 26, 2011 (newstodate): Romania is to loosen its grip on the national airline Tarom, so far owned 100 percent by the state.
The move is driven by the recent agreement with IMF that requires the state to sell parts of the shares in a number of state-owned enterprises.
So far no timeframe has been set for the sale of shares in Tarom, but eventually 20 percent of the stake will be put up for sale on the stock exchange.
Based at the country's Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, Tarom has a fleet of 26 aircraft including sic Airbus A320 Family aircraft, nine ATR aircraft, and 11 Boeing 737 Classic and NG aircraft operating scheduled domestic and international services to 53 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
