Aug 29, 2011 (newstodate): Romania's capital Bucharest is currently served by two airport, Henry Coanda International Airport and Baneasa. But a third is needed..
The Romanian government has now endorsed plans for construction of a new airport to the south of the capital, and a feasibility study is being prepared.
The exact location has till not been disclosed, but Adunatii Copaceni 20 km from Bucharest city has been named as the most probable location.
The new airport is needed to relieve the pressure by low-cost traffic on the two other airports, enabling them to accommodate new air traffic by international carriers that cannot currently find sufficient space and facilities.
Within six months after the presentation of the feasibility construction work may start, with the new airport to be commissioned about two years later.
