Aug 05, 2011 (newstodate): Without much of a fanfare, Finnair Cargo's freighter traffic has now been transferred to Nordic Global Airlines Ltd, the JV between Finnair and Neff Capital Management.
The new partnership took effect from August 4, 2011, operating Finnair Cargo's network of freighter destinations.
In June 2011, Finnair Cargo also entered into a partnership agreement with World Airways that will operate two weekly rotations with MD-11 aircraft between Helsinki, New York and Shanghai.
Compared to the performance of Finnair's passenger traffic results in a turbulent market, Finnair Cargo fared well during the first half of this year.
Cargo sales grew by 18 percent in the second quarter, available tonne kilometers grew by 21.5 percent, and revenue tonne kilometers by 16.1 percent.
Cargo unit revenue grew by 1.8 percent per available tonne kilometre, and the volume of cargo and mail carried grew by 10.5 percent.
The overall load factor was 61.1 percent.
