Aug 29, 2011 (newstodate): Planning its launch of helicopter services between Helsinki and Tallinn within two weeks from now, Copterline is already setting its eyes on the next move.
-Looking at the entire Baltic market, one city stands out in size and market catchment area, with the other cities in the region relegated to secondary positions, says Kari Ljungberg, Copterline CEO.
-This leading Baltic city is Russia's St Petersburg, with some 10 mio inhabitants and an airport under major expansion. It would of course be only natural as the next step after the consolidation of services between Helsinki and Tallinn to expand into a triangular service connecting St Petersburg, Tallinn and Helsinki with a helicopter operation.
-Actually this has been part of our considerations for years, and initial preparations are already on the table. But of course, our first challenge is to build and consolidate the Helsinki-Tallinn line and achieve a balanced operation on this route.
-Crucial to our efforts is our membership of Amadeus that will now expose our services on the front page when you search for the fastest connection between these two destinations. This will make us easily visible and direct traffic into our system when considering an attractive correlation between price and benefits to the traveler.
-We will also be open for interline agreements, but we will of course tread cautiously in order not to alienate ourselves to the many by favoring the few, says Mr Ljungberg.
