Aug 29, 2011 (newstodate): Thanks to its cooperation with Kingfisher, Finnair is expanding its presence in the Indian market.
The carrier operates flights from Helsinki to Delhi, but code-sharing with Kingfisher allows Finnair to reach also Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad.
Finnair first launched flights to Mumbai, the carrier's second Indian destination after Delhi, on June 26, 2007, initially offering up to six weekly rotations but down to four per week when services were suspended from May, 2009, due to low demand during the slack season.
The carrier was expected to re-open flights to Mumbai in 2010 but has instead focused on cooperating with Kingfisher that will also become a member of the oneworld airline alliance in 2012.
