Aug 10, 2011 (newstodate): Among the figures in Finnair's report on its cargo performance in July, a marked decline in volumes carried on freighters stands out.
In July 2011, these volumes on all-cargo operations dropped 41 percent, y-o-y, to 1,227 tonnes.
-No big deal, says a company spokesperson. Back in 2010 we had two weekly rotations between Helsinki and Seoul, but this summer only one. Otherwise we just had some one-time cancellations/schedule changes due to operational changes.
From August 1, 2011, Finnair Cargo is back in full scale with some changes of weekdays for some destinations, but without changes of the freighter services network.
From August 4, 2011, Finnair Cargo's freighter traffic was transferred to Nordic Global Airlines Ltd operating Finnair Cargo's network of freighter destinations.
In June 2011, Finnair Cargo also entered into a partnership agreement with World Airways that now operates two weekly rotations for Finnair Cargo with MD-11 aircraft between Helsinki, New York and Shanghai.
