Aug 25, 2011 (newstodate): Eastern Europe is finally coming into the spotlight of Gulf carriers.
Recently, Qatar Airways launched services from Dubai to Sofia and Bucharest, already operating into Budapest since January 17, 2011, and the latest move from the Gulf is the decision by the LCC Flydubai to start flights from Dubai to Belgrade, Serbia.
The carrier will offer four weekly rotations on the route to Belgrade to be launched on November 1, 2011.
On November 1, 2011, another Gulf carrier Emirates will start flights to its second destination in Russia - St Petersburg, following on flights to Moscow since 2003.
Otherwise, Eastern Europe and Russia have remained out of sight from the Gulf perspective.
