Jul 29, 2011 (newstodate): As from August 1, 2011, Luxembourg will be the home base for West Atlantic's flight operations, with the last flight by West Air Sweden on July 31, 2011.
-The cut-over will be practically a non-event. All issues have been solved, staff are in place, and seen from the outside it will be business as usual, says Russell Ladkin, West Atlantic Sales & Operations Director.
-With few exceptions, our staff has accepted the move from West Air Sweden to West Atlantic, and we are thus fully in a position to operate in the market based on conditions that require flexibility and the ability to adjust in order to stay competitive in an environment of constant changes, says Mr Ladkin.
Having solved the issue of the future base of flight operations, the next challenge for West Atlantic will be to decide on which way to go after the abrupt decision by Airbus to scrap its Airbus A320 P2F program, that was poised to become the new platform for the carrier that has so far build its business on an extensive fleet of turbo-prop ATP freighters.
