Jul 26, 2011 (newstodate): Norway's Oslo Airport managed to maintain positive growth in volumes through June 2011, otherwise a low season in the industry.
A total of 7,854 tonnes of freight and mail was handled at the airport, up 3.6 percent, y-o-y.
Included in the totals were 5,376 tonnes of international cargo and mail, up 7.2 percent, while domestic cargo and mail fell 3.3 percent to 2,478 tonnes.
Volumes in the first half of the year were thus 46,273 tonnes, an increase over H1 in 2010 by 13.6 percent.
Among the major factors boosting the airport's H1 2011 performance is the re-opening of direct daily flights from Oslo, Norway, to New York from the end of March, 2011, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
