Jul 28, 2011 (newstodate): Effective from September 5, 2011, Estonian Air will increase frequency on its important route between Tallinn and St Petersburg, Russia after having now obtained the necessary Russian permission.
Estonian Air is currently offering six weekly flights on the route, but new to come are an additional three morning flights that will enhance the importance of the service to business travelers especially.
Flights are operated in code-share with the St Petersburg-based Russian carrier Rossiya, and the additional flights will also boost the potentials for transfer options at both ends of the route.
Opening flights from Tallinn to St Petersburg was long on the wishing-list of Estonian Air, but despite repeated applications the Russian authorities denied access to the route until at long last granting traffic rights with the first Estonian Air flight to St Petersburg on July 27, 2009, with SAAB 340 aircraft four times weekly.
