Jul 26, 2011 (newstodate): Among the many niches in and around the aviation industry is leasing of flight crews by airline carriers.
As one example, the Lithuanian company AviaCV.com, specializing in flight crew leasing, has entered the East European aviation market through a new cooperation with the Ukrainian charter carrier Khors Air, based in Kiev.
Among the carrier's 18 aircraft is one Airbus A320, and Khors Air is now leasing four to six flight crews, each crew comprising two pilots and two instructors.
In 2010, airlines leased about 1,600 pilots in the Near East, 4,700 in Europe, and more than 9,000 in the Asian-Pacific region.
The total market value of these transactions added up to more than 101 mio euro.
Flight crew leasing services allows carriers to assure uninterrupted activity in case of fleet renewal processes, employee rotation, sickness, busy periods and other situations that require increased temporary flight crew availability.
