Jul 26, 2011 (newstodate): Under its new CEO Tero Taskila, in the driver's seat since June 1, 2011, Estonian Air may be preparing to launch services to Finland.
Except for flights between Tallinn and Helsinki, Estonian Air has not earlier operated flights to Finland, but according to industry sources the carrier now plans to launch flights from Tallinn to Finnish destinations Oulu, Jyvaskyla, Turku and Vaasa by this coming winter schedule.
Under this new strategy, Tallinn Airport will become a transit hub for flights between these Finnish destinations and Estonian Air's network of European routes.
The Latvian carrier airBaltic early served Lappeenranta, Oulu, Tampere and Turku via Tallinn from its hub in Riga, but pulled out of this market.
