Jun 22, 2011 (newstodate): Ukraine is to modernize the Odessa International Airport through a JV with several international partners.
Joining the JV are Odessa's city council, Vienna Airport Austrian Company, Ineco Spanish Company, Ukraeroproekt, Macquarie International Infrastructure Fund, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Odessa Airport Development Planning Company.
Backed by the joint investments of up to 250 mio USD in a phased project program, the airport built in 1961 will see the renovation of the 2,800m runway as well as the construction of a new passenger terminal in two phases, with the first phase to grow passenger volumes to 1.5 mio passengers, and to four mio passengers in the second phase, each phase estimated to require 18 months.
