Jun 20, 2011 (newstodate): Plans for opening Serbia's new commercial airport, Kraljevo-Ladevci Airport has gained fresh impetus.
The Turkish state has offered to infuse 10 million Euros into the project for construction of a new passenger terminal at the former military airbase that is to be re-named Morava Airport.
Originally slated for commissioning before the end of 2010, the airport is now said to open later in 2011 after renewed state investments in the project to change the airport's role from military base to commercial airport.
The project was, however, running out of steam due to financial strains, so the Turkish helping hand will allow the project to gain speed again.
Besides introducing passenger traffic to serve the industries in the region as well as the Bosniak population in the region, the airport is also expected to appeal to air cargo operators.
