Jun 20, 2011 (newstodate): The MRO capabilities in the Baltic region are building up significantly, with strong competition between the Estonian and the Lithuanian providers.
In Estonia, Air Maintenance Estonia at Tallinn Airport is now to start the realization of long-standing plans for expansion, including a new twin-bay maintenance hangar with both Boeing and Airbus capability, as well as a new hangar for aircraft painting.
In Lithuania, FL Technics at Vilnius Airport, part of Lithuanian aviation business group Avia Solutions Group AB, has added the Airbus A320 aircraft family to the EASA Part-145 certificate, expanding the company's capability list to provide line and base maintenance as well as other repair and maintenance services on this aircraft type.
-There is indeed strong competition between us, says Lars-Olof Bolinder, AME managing director.
-But still, we are different. We have our focus on aircraft maintenance for airlines in Europe and are now also looking East for potentials in Russia and CIS. FL Technics has traditionally had its focus on airline customers in Russia and CIS and are now also turning their attention to the European markets.
