Jun 09, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Yekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport grew its cargo volumes significantly in 2010.
A total of 22,946 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at the airport, an increase by 68.9 percent, y-o-y.
The totals included 10,219 tonnes of international cargo, 12,303 tonnes of domestic cargo and 424 tonnes of CIS cargo.
Among the major carriers active at Koltsovo Airport with scheduled traffic are AirBridgeCargo with two weekly rotations on the route from Amsterdam via Koltsovo Airport to Hong Kong, and two weekly rotations by MNG Cargo on the route between Istanbul and Almaty via Koltsovo Airport, using Boeing 747-400F and Airbus A300-600F freighters, respectively.
The airport has now launched construction of a cargo village with facilities to raise annual cargo handling capacity to 79.400 tonnes in 2030.
