Formerly a military air force base, Sliac Airport has been renovated with a 2,340m runway and passenger terminal facilities has now been opened for joint military/civilian use after two years of construction works.
First commercial carrier to operate air traffic at Sliac Airport is the Czech Travel Service Airlines that is now offering seasonal flights from Sliac to Bulgarian and Turkish leisure destinations with Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
