Jun 21, 2011 (newstodate): While its share prices are dipping low, at least the Scandinavian carrier SAS has again demonstrated its intentions to survive with a fresh aircraft order at the Paris Air Show.
The carrier has placed orders for 30 Airbus A320neo with an option for a further 11 Airbus A320neo.
The new aircraft will be delivered from the second half of 2016 till 2019 and based at the hub at Copenhagen Airport.
As part of the fleet transition earlier announced, all the MD80 aircraft in Copenhagen will be successively replaced by leased Airbus A320 by the end of 2014, after which they will be replaced as from 2016 by the now 30 ordered Airbus A320neo.
The MD80 aircraft based in Stockholm will be gradually be replaced by leased Boeing 737NGs in a process ending in 2013.
Finally, all the Boeing 737 Classic aircraft based in Oslo will be replaced by Boeing 737NG aircraft, a process to be completed by the end of 2014.
