SAS first opened its route to Shanghai on March 28, 2004, but pulled out again from 2007.
Now the carrier has announced plans for a re-launch of the route from March 1, 2012, offering five weekly rotations with Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
SAS Currently operates a long-haul fleet of 10 aircraft including sic Airbus A340-300 and four Airbus A330-300, but an 11th Airbus A340-300 will be added as it return to SAS after a lease term with another operator.
SAS is currently offering daily flights between Copenhagen and Beijing, and may also be considering reintroducing flights on the route from Stockholm to Beijing, operated from 2007 to 2009.
