Jun 17, 2011 (newstodate): SAS has decided to bolster its position in the Finnish market via its Finnish subsidiary, Blue1.
As part of this strategy, the SAS Group has decided to phase out the remaining five Avro RJ-85 aircraft starting from August this year, and streamline the fleet to Boeing 717 of which nine aircraft are now in service with Blue1.
The re-focus on the Finnish market will also result in closure of a number of Blue1's European destinations, some capacity adjustments will be made on Finnish domestic routes, while a new route between Tampere and Copenhagen will be opened.
