Jun 08, 2011 (newstodate): Azerbaijan Airlines plans to modernize Baku Heydar Aliyev's International Airport alongside the construction of a new passenger terminal.
Designed by the UK-based engineering and construction company Arup, the new 53,000 sq m terminal is designed for an annual handling capacity of three million passengers.
The terminal will have eight air bridges compatible with the Boeing 767 aircraft, and will be opened in 2013.
Azerbaijan Airlines will now also reconstruct the airport's cargo facilities and other infrastructure to bring the airport in line with modern world standards.
